We envision a future where physically challenged people have unlimited access to mobility, empowering them to chase opportunities and live fulfilling lives.
Our organization was founded through the initiative of Asante, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and technician, and the creative mind behind bamboo mobility aids. Asante, a great optimist, has always aimed to positively impacting the lives of others. His mission began when he saw how far young children had to walk to school. He was inspired to build and donate bamboo bicycles. He then noticed the great need among children with physical disabilities when he saw them crawling across gravel fields in search of food. He decided to explore what more he could do with bamboo, leading him to design bamboo wheelchairs.
Since then, the demand for aids in his community has significantly increased, not only for wheelchairs, but also for walkers, crutches, and other necessities. Therefore, Asante is now building a new workshop; a place where these products can be further developed and produced on a larger scale, ultimately empowering as many people as possible to strengthen their self-reliance and participation in society. Move By Bamboo supports Asante in realizing these future plans.
We support local entrepreneurs and technicians in setting up and managing workshops in West Africa where bamboo mobility aids are developed, produced and distributed.
Driven by initiative of a Ghanaian entrepreneur, we support the on-site development and production of mobility aids, while creating employment opportunities.
The mobility aids are tailored to the specific needs of the individual user and its environment, making them user friendly and durable.
